CAREER REVIEW
Helping people maximise their careers and their
contribution to their organisations
Why have a career review?
People may choose a review for a whole variety of reasons. Here
are just a few examples:
- They have reached a turning point and feel unsure which way to
go next
- Life-changing events, outside work
- Issues that have arisen in the role
- Organisational change
- Personal change
- A need to take time out to review where they are going
- Lack of career progression
- A need to move away from what they have been doing
- Feeling stale
An example programme
These are usually customised, often either one-to-one coaching
or a combination of coaching and a workshop. A programme may
include:
An initial one-to-one
This may include
- Explore their current situation and needs further
- Examine any fears and concerns about the process
- Establish a level of commitment to the process
- Explore approaches towards individual career management
- Investigate strategies that are not working
- Discuss strengths, development areas and career drivers
- Begin building possible actions for future career
management
The workshop
It may cover
- Managing change
- Effective career management
- Self-awareness
- The changing needs of the organisation
- Career vision
- Profile management
- Action planning
A follow-up one-to-one
This might consist of:
- An assessment in the light of the workshop
- Further reflection and discussion that might have taken
place
- Identification of key underlying obstacles
- Key learnings
- Development of a strategy for change
- Action planning
